Theakston's Black Bull Bitter

This beer sampled at: Oscar's Bar, Silver Street, Hull

BREWED BY: T&R Theakston Ltd, The Brewery, Masham, Ripon, North Yorkshire, HG4 4YD
AVAILABILITY: Generally available, all year round.
ALCOHOL BY VOLUME: 3.9% (1 pint = 2.2 UK units)
APPEARANCE: Light bronze in colour with a thin white head.
FLAVOUR: A slight lemony bitterness, with very little malt flavour, and basically that's about it. No background flavours detectable and very little body. A beer with no real character. It's refreshing, but lacks any real flavour. Not much better than a keg bitter or even than a lager.
APPEAL: OCCASIONAL. Very disappointing. I try not review an ale if it means I have to give it a bad review, but from experience I expect more from Theakstons and I know they are capable of much better than this..
