Bateman's XB Bitter

This beer sampled at: The Admiral of the Humber, Anlaby Road, Hull

BREWED BY: George Bateman and Son Ltd. Salem Bridge Brewery, Wainfleet, Lincolnshire PE24 4JE
AVAILABILITY: Generally available, year round
ALCOHOL BY VOLUME: 3.7% (1 pint = 2.1 UK units)
APPEARANCE: Mid amber in colour; with a thick, white, creamy head.
FLAVOUR: A smooth nutty bitter with a surprising bite in the aftertaste. There's a tangy bitterness that's purely hop based, there being no citrus or roasted malt tones detectable. The nutty background flavour hits the tongue a little after the initial bitterness to provide a pleasant surprise.
APPEAL: REGULAR. A pleasant light well balanced bitter.
